Diabetic foot infection is a serious clinical problem. Properly managed, most can be cured. Presence of infection worsens prognosis. Can often become limb or life threatening

Diabetic ulcers in the feet are peculiar. Involvement of peripheral nerves is quite a common complication in Diabetics. The vascular insufficiency makes this more complicated. Poor control of glucose leads to decreased immune response. Thereby infection of feet becomes more common. As the feet are weight bearing structures, brunt of injury disallows to heal the wound.
